| 表面の説明 | The obverse displays the national coat of arms of Samoa at centre, featuring a quartered shield bearing a coconut palm over ocean waves in the upper half and the Southern Cross constellation of five stars in the lower half, surmounted by a radiant Christian cross. The shield is encircled by a globe and flanked by two olive branches forming a wreath. A scroll below carries the national motto FA'AVAE I LE ATUA SAMOA in raised lettering. The legend SAMOA arcs along the upper rim, and the denomination $10 appears in the lower field. |

Samoa has issued commemorative silver rounds under its own authority since the late 1970s, but the ginkgo series belongs to a wave of collector-targeted bullion struck largely for the European and Asian secondary markets rather than domestic circulation. The Central Bank of Samoa functioned here essentially as a licensing authority — the coins are legal tender in name, with no expectation of ever seeing a Samoan till.
