Additional information

Vanuatu has no fossil record of Smilodon — the saber-toothed predator was endemic to the Americas and never ranged into the Pacific. The Reserve Bank of Vanuatu has issued commemorative coins under licensing arrangements for decades, effectively functioning as a mint-for-hire for international bullion and novelty coin programs with no geographic or historical connection to the island nation.

The silver cladding accounts for roughly 6.5% of total weight, a construction method that keeps precious metal content just high enough to justify silver marketing while the copper core absorbs most of the production cost.
