Obverse description The obverse is printed in dark tones with a decorative guilloche border enclosing the main design elements. At right, an oval portrait vignette presents a distinguished male figure in Western dress, identified as a senior Japanese banking official. To the left, large kanji characters denote the denomination 拾圓 (Ten Yen), with vertical Japanese text setting out the redemption obligation. The issuer's name in kanji — 株式會社第一銀行 — appears at upper left, alongside serial number panels and a red specimen overprint (見本).
