| Description de l’avers | The obverse is printed in dark grey-green and black on a light green guilloche underprint, with the Imperial chrysanthemum seal at the top centre flanked by ornate scrollwork borders. A central intaglio vignette presents a bust portrait of Wake no Kiyomaro in traditional court dress, framed by an oval cartouche with flanking phoenix motifs and a garland of cherry blossoms at the base. The denomination 拾圓 appears in large kanji characters to the left, with the issuer inscription 日本銀行 to the right, two circular red seal impressions at lower left and right, and the printer's inscription along the bottom margin. |

| Description du revers | The reverse is printed in brown on plain paper, dominated by a central intaglio vignette of the Yūmei-mon gate at Nikkō Tōshō-gū shrine, rendered in fine line engraving with surrounding trees and stone lanterns in the foreground. The issuer title 日本銀行券 appears in a rectangular panel at the top centre surmounted by a circular mon emblem, with the denomination 拾圓 in kanji at the lower left and the numeral 10 within a guilloche rosette at the right. The entire composition is enclosed within an elaborate floral and scroll border with chrysanthemum corner ornaments. |
