The upper register bears the issuer title "RESERVE BANK OF MALAWI" in white lettering on a red guilloche band, with the denomination "K100" at upper right; the Reserve Bank seal appears in a dark circular medallion at lower right. A Governor's signature with the date "1st July 1997" is positioned at lower left, above a decorative fish motif printed in red. |

The Reserve Bank of Malawi seal appears at upper centre, flanked by the denomination "K100" at upper right and "ONE HUNDRED KWACHA" at upper left in red letterpress. A fish vignette and a colourful fish-shaped emblem appear to the right, and the issuer name "RESERVE BANK OF MALAWI" is repeated in a red band across the lower portion of the note. |
