To the left of the oval, a 4×5 grid contains the twenty day-signs of the Tzolk'in, the 260-day sacred Mayan calendar. The lower portion bears the date 21 December 2012 — the close of the 13th b'ak'tun in the Maya Long Count — together with the inscription SANTA ROSA DE COPÁN, evoking the celebrated Classic Maya ceremonial site in Honduras. |

The entire field is underlaid with a pale orange-toned, fine-line underprint reproducing a Mayan ruler or deity in the manner of Classic Maya stele carving, distinguished by an elaborate feathered headdress.
