Togo's participation in commemorative silver issues of this type was facilitated through the BCEAO framework, though the coins were never intended for domestic circulation and were produced entirely for the collector export market. The CFA franc itself is pegged to the euro at a fixed rate inherited from its original peg to the French franc — a monetary arrangement dating to 1945 that successive issuing states, Togo included, have retained without alteration.
