The denomination 1.000 FRANCS CFA appears in large lettering in the lower field. The circumferential legend reads REPUBLIQUE DU DAHOMEY, flanked by the date 1971 at the top, and the commemorative inscriptions 1er Août 1970 and 10ème Anniversaire along the left and right margins respectively.
