An intaglio vignette of Parliament House in Port Moresby dominates the central and right portions of the note, set against a multicolour guilloche underprint in peach and orange tones. The issuer inscription 'Bank of Papua New Guinea' runs along the top centre, the denomination '20' and legend 'Twenty Kina' appear at upper right, and the legal tender clause is lettered along the base. |

Papua New Guinea adopted polymer for its banknotes earlier than most Pacific nations, and this series was produced by Note Printing Australia at a time when NPA held an almost monopolistic position supplying polymer currency across the Pacific and Southeast Asia. The transparent window on this note was a relatively early application of that feature for the denomination.
Three distinct signature combinations across the series reflect genuine administrative change at the Bank — Leonard Kamit's tenure as Governor ended in 2009, with Loi Bakani succeeding him, while Wilson Tossali remained as Deputy throughout.
