| 表面の説明 | The obverse displays the official seal of the Republic of the Marshall Islands at center, featuring a stylized frigate bird with outstretched wings above a traditional Marshallese outrigger canoe sailing on water, flanked by palm trees and crossed traditional implements beneath a radiant sun. A chain border frames the entire design around the periphery. The upper legend reads REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS, while .9999 PURE and 1 OZ GOLD appear along the left and right borders respectively. The Marshallese national motto JEPILPILIN KE EJUKAAN arcs along the lower field, and the word SEAL appears in a cartouche at the base of the central device. |

The Marshall Islands began issuing commemorative coinage in 1986, the same year the nation signed its Compact of Free Association with the United States — formally ending nearly four decades of U.S. Trust Territory administration that had included the Bikini Atoll nuclear tests. This $200 gold piece was among the first coins issued under full Marshallese sovereignty, with production contracted to private minting facilities rather than a government mint, as the islands have never operated one of their own.
