正面描述 The obverse displays the official seal of the Republic of the Marshall Islands at center, featuring a stylized frigate bird with outstretched wings above a traditional Marshallese outrigger canoe sailing on water, flanked by palm trees and crossed traditional implements beneath a radiant sun. A chain border frames the entire design around the periphery. The upper legend reads REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS, while .9999 PURE and 1 OZ GOLD appear along the left and right borders respectively. The Marshallese national motto JEPILPILIN KE EJUKAAN arcs along the lower field, and the word SEAL appears in a cartouche at the base of the central device.

附加信息

The Marshall Islands began issuing commemorative coinage in 1986, the same year the nation signed its Compact of Free Association with the United States — formally ending nearly four decades of U.S. Trust Territory administration that had included the Bikini Atoll nuclear tests. This $200 gold piece was among the first coins issued under full Marshallese sovereignty, with production contracted to private minting facilities rather than a government mint, as the islands have never operated one of their own.
