Aanvullende informatie

Uruguay's first bronze coinage was authorized under the monetary reform that followed years of paper currency chaos tied to the region's devastating Paraguayan War. The 4 centésimos was among the heaviest pieces in the new decimal series — at 20 grams, it was awkward enough in daily commerce that the denomination was quietly abandoned within a few years.

The multiple catalog cross-references reflect genuine variety confusion: SA and CG listings diverge on die characteristics, and collectors have long disputed whether the differences constitute separate issues or simply production inconsistency from the Paris Mint.
