The 5,000 Won note has been issued in this general format since 1977, but the 2006 redesign introduced by the Bank of Korea brought in a suite of modern security features and shifted printing entirely to KOMSCO's Gyeongsan facility. Prior to that consolidation, Korean currency printing had been split between domestic and foreign contractors. By 2013, the series was well into its production run with no significant design changes from the original 2006 specification.
Pick 18 is the current definitive issue — nothing experimental or transitional about it.
