| Description de l’avers | A detailed relief view of the Seif Palace as it appeared circa 1900 occupies the central field, depicting the historic facade with its colonnaded frontage and arched gateway. The Arabic legend قصر السيف and the date ١٩٠٠ appear beneath the palace image, while the Latin inscription 'Sief Palace c1900' curves along the lower inner border. The bilingual legend 'State of Kuwait' in Latin and دولة الكويت in Arabic curves along the upper inner border. The entire design is framed by an ornate arabesque decorative border encircling the coin's rim. |

Kuwait's National Day commemoratives of the 1990s carried unusual political weight — the 35th anniversary fell just five years after Iraqi forces were expelled from the country, and the series functioned partly as an assertion of restored sovereignty during a period when Kuwait was still processing the destruction of its infrastructure and oil fields.
The 28.28g sterling specification was the standard Commonwealth commemorative blank of the period, produced in large volume by the Royal Mint and several European refiners for exactly this kind of contracted issue.
