| Description du revers | The Greek royal coat of arms dominates the centre of the reverse, depicting a quartered shield bearing a cross, surmounted by a royal crown, and supported on either side by two nude male figures — classical Herculean supporters each resting a hand on a lion's head. The denomination numeral 5 appears in large digits in the lower field, flanked by decorative scroll ornaments. The circular legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΝ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ (Kingdom of Greece) runs along the upper periphery, while the value inscription ΔΡΑΧΜΑΙ is positioned in the lower legend arc, with separating dots. Constantine II ascended the Greek throne in 1964 following the death of his father Paul I, and this pattern was struck two years into a reign that would prove short and turbulent. The 1966 date places it squarely between the political crisis of July 1965 — when Constantine dismissed Prime Minister Georgios Papandreou, triggering months of parliamentary chaos — and the military coup of April 1967 that effectively ended his functional authority.
As a pattern, it never entered circulation. Constantine fled to Rome in December 1967 following a failed counter-coup against the junta.
