Constantine II ascended the Greek throne in 1964 following the death of his father Paul I, and this pattern was struck two years into a reign that would prove short and turbulent. The 1966 date places it squarely between the political crisis of July 1965 — when Constantine dismissed Prime Minister Georgios Papandreou, triggering months of parliamentary chaos — and the military coup of April 1967 that effectively ended his functional authority.
As a pattern, it never entered circulation. Constantine fled to Rome in December 1967 following a failed counter-coup against the junta.
