Dimitris Lipertis (1866–1937) was one of Cyprus's most celebrated dialect poets, writing in Cypriot Greek at a time when the island was under British colonial administration. His work drew heavily on rural life and vernacular speech, and he remains a figure of genuine popular affection rather than institutional canonization. This coin was issued as part of the Central Bank's ongoing cultural figures series.
