| Beschrijving keerzijde | The central vignette carries an elaborate intaglio composition of traditional Papua New Guinean ceremonial objects, including a broad kina shell gorget, a stylised Sepik-style spirit mask with hollow eyes, feather and fibre ornamentation, and coiled shell pendants, all rendered against a warm yellow and orange guilloche underprint with geometric tribal motifs. An ornate numeral 5 in purple occupies the upper left, and the denomination text FIVE KINA is printed vertically along the right margin. A black polymer window device appears at lower right, mirroring the obverse, with the issuer name in dark red along the lower left border. |

Papua New Guinea adopted polymer for its lower denominations partly in response to the brutal tropical conditions that reduced cotton-paper notes to unusable pulp within months in high-humidity coastal and lowland regions. Note Printing Australia, which developed the Guardian polymer substrate in partnership with the Reserve Bank of Australia, has supplied PNG's polymer issues since the country made the switch.
The P#51 series ran across five years with no significant design changes between printings — date variants exist but carry no premium distinction in most specialist collections.
