This pattern was produced as part of that broader effort to stabilize and rationalize Chilean coinage following years of inflationary paper emission. The 1926 5 Pesos pattern in .720 silver was never adopted for circulation; the reforms ultimately moved Chile toward a new peso structure that rendered the denomination redundant before production could begin.
