Thomas De La Rue's involvement with Brunei currency goes back decades — their relationship with small, oil-wealthy sultanates was a consistent feature of post-colonial Commonwealth monetary arrangements.
The currency interchangeability agreement with Singapore, in force since 1967, means this note circulated at par across the Causeway — legally accepted by both nations at face value.
