The bank title BANCO CENTRAL DEL ECUADOR is inscribed at the top, and the denomination legend CINCUENTA SUCRES appears within an ornate cartouche at the base of the note. |

The Banco Central kept the denomination in circulation far longer than economic conditions would have recommended, a fiscal decision that eroded the note's real-world purchasing power to near irrelevance by the early 1980s.
