The name 'Makemake' is inscribed in the field to the right of the figure. At the top of the outer ring, a stylized bird-man mask serves as a decorative element, while the legend 'ISLA DE PASCUA' arcs along the left and 'RAPA NUI' along the right of the dark outer ring. Easter Island has no independent monetary authority — it is a Chilean territory, and its legal tender is the Chilean peso. These "local issues" bearing Easter Island's name were produced for the collector market under a provision that allowed Chilean municipalities and territories to authorize commemorative pieces, but they were never intended for, nor saw, ordinary circulation. The X# prefix in the Standard Catalog system designates them explicitly as non-circulating fantasy issues rather than official national coinage.
