The 600 Gulden denomination is extraordinary by any standard — no comparable face value existed in the Habsburg note-issuing tradition before or after 1848, making this almost certainly an instrument designed for large institutional settlements rather than retail trade. The Staats-Central-Cassa was the imperial treasury's direct cashier operation, distinct from the Nationalbank, and its notes carried the full weight of state obligation rather than banking house credit.
