| Obverse description | Irregular hammered cob flan exhibiting the characteristic rough, uneven surfaces typical of macuquina coinage. A rectangular countermark applied by the Guatemala City Mint is prominently struck into the field, containing a small radiate sun or wheel device at its center, serving as the authentication mark of the State of Guatemala. Partial elements of the underlying host coin's design — including fragments of a crowned shield and cross — remain visible beneath and around the countermark impression. The flan displays the irregular, jagged edges and variable relief characteristic of emergency cob coinage produced by the hammered method. |
