The facial features, including a large eye depicted in a distinctly non-Greek stylized manner, reflect the progressive abstraction applied by Sabaean engravers to the original Attic model. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show typical ancient die wear. |

The head is shown en face with large circular eyes and a radiate crown of feathers above. To the left of the owl, a South Arabian (Ancient South Semitic) inscription occupies the field in vertical arrangement; to the right, a further South Arabian legend is present, flanking the central device. The composition closely follows the Attic owl reverse type but is thoroughly adapted in artistic execution to the regional South Arabian idiom. |
