| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field contains a three-line Kufic Arabic inscription within a single circular border, with a marginal legend in Arabic script encircling the design within a beaded outer ring. The reverse inscription identifies the mint, regnal date, and typically includes the name of the caliph or governor along with Quranic phrases, following the standard Umayyad-derived Abbasid dirham format. The lettering is executed in an angular early Kufic style consistent with the reign of the first Abbasid caliph, Abu al-Abbas al-Saffah (AH 132–136). The flan is irregular and slightly uneven in thickness, characteristic of hammered coinage of this era. |
