The laurel wreath is depicted with carefully articulated leaves crowning the deity's brow. The epithet APXEΓETAΣ (Archegetes, meaning 'Founder' or 'Leader'), a title of Apollo as patron deity of Tauromenion, appears as a vertical legend to the left of the portrait. The modelling of the face is bold and expressive, with strong facial features characteristic of Sicilian bronze coinage of the late fourth to early third century BC. |

| Description du revers | A bull in aggressive butting posture, charging to the right with head lowered and forelegs extended, rendered with vigorous sculptural plasticity typical of Sicilian numismatic art. The musculature of the animal is boldly modelled, conveying power and dynamism. The city ethnic TAUROMENITAN (partially visible in the upper field around the bull) frames the type, while the control letters ΣN appear in the exergue below the groundline. This bull type is a recurrent symbol on the coinage of Tauromenion, referencing both the city's Sicel heritage and its agrarian identity. |
