These Pounds will circulate within Totnes, building wealth and abundance, rather than leaking out into the wider economy at large. This is a private currency issued by Transition Town Totnes and endorsed by Totnes Chamber of Commerce. It has no official value, but may, by mutual consent, be treated as roughly equivalent to £1. Many Totnes businesses accept Totnes Pounds in full or part payment. Go to www.transitiontowns.org/Totnes for a current list, or look out for "Totnes Pounds Accepted Here" signs. The Totnes Pound, circulating within the local economy, is worth more to Totnes, to job creation, to local businesses and to the future of the town than those boring £1 coins.
