The Christogram IC–XC (abbreviation for Jesus Christ) is distributed in the upper two quarters flanking the cross arms. Four-pointed stars are placed symmetrically in the lower two quarters. The design follows standard Byzantine reverse iconography adapted for Bulgarian imperial coinage of the 13th century. |
