正面描述 Central field bearing multiple horizontal lines of Arabic Kufic script arranged in registers, containing the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada) and the name of the ruler Muhammad b. 'Umar. The inscriptions are boldly struck with characteristic angular Kufic letterforms. A marginal legend in cursive Arabic script encircles the central text area, following the irregular flan edge. The overall composition is typical of Abbasid-influenced provincial silver dirhams of the 3rd century AH.

附加信息

The Banijurids were a minor Iranian dynasty governing parts of Tokharistan under Samanid suzerainty — effectively autonomous administrators who retained the right to strike coinage as a mark of delegated authority. Muhammad b. 'Umar is among the less-documented rulers in the line, and dirhams attributable specifically to his name are scarce in institutional collections. Album's reference 1433G reflects the detailed sub-classification work done to sort Banijurid emissions, many of which share dies or mint signatures with contemporaneous Samanid issues, complicating attribution without close examination of the marginal legends.
