| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in reddish-brown tones on cream paper and is framed by an elaborate Art Nouveau guilloche border with interlaced foliate scrollwork and numerals 25 in the corners. The bank title 'De Javasche Bank' appears in large display lettering at centre, above the bearer clause 'Betaalt — Aan — Toonder' and the denomination 'VIJF EN TWINTIG GULDEN' in bold letterpress. Below the denomination, the issue place and date 'Batavia, 31 Juni 1908' are inscribed, flanked by the signature captions 'Secretaris' and 'President', with the bank monogram at the foot centre. |
