| Mô tả mặt trước | Central field bears the Islamic declaration of faith (Shahada) in three lines of Kufic Arabic script: 'There is no god but God alone, there is no partner with Him.' The surrounding marginal legend, reading in a continuous band, records the mint and date formula: 'In the name of God, this dirham was struck in Isbahan in the year six and ninety and one hundred (AH 196 / AD 812).' The inscription is the sole decorative element, executed in angular Kufic calligraphy typical of Abbasid monetary production, with no figural imagery. The field between the central inscription and the marginal legend is plain. |

| Mô tả mặt sau | Central field displays a five-line Kufic Arabic inscription comprising the name of God and the second part of the Shahada: 'For God / Muhammad / is the Messenger / of God,' followed by the name of the governor or mint official 'Harthama.' The surrounding marginal legend carries the Quranic verse (Quran 9:33): 'Muhammad is the Messenger of God. He sent him with guidance and the religion of truth to make it prevail over all religions, even though the polytheists hate it.' The calligraphy is angular Kufic throughout, consistent with standard Abbasid dirham typology. No figural or ornamental motifs appear; the design is entirely epigraphic. |
