Opmerkingen

The Commission des Écoles Catholiques de Montréal used scholastic currency as a pedagogical incentive system within its Catholic school network — notes issued to students as rewards for attendance, academic performance, or good conduct, redeemable against small prizes or school supplies. It was a widespread practice across Quebec's Catholic school boards through much of the twentieth century, and the CECM's network was among the largest francophone Catholic school systems in North America at its peak.

These pieces occupy an awkward category: not legal tender, not play money in the toy sense, but a functioning internal scrip with real redemption value within a closed institutional economy.
