Philistian coinage of this period was largely derivative of Athenian and Persian models, struck by cities along the southern Levantine coast — Gaza, Ashkelon, and Ashdod among them — whose precise attribution remains contested. The issuing authority here cannot be confirmed with certainty, which is itself historically telling: these fractional silvers circulated through a region of overlapping administrative claims, caught between Achaemenid provincial control and vigorous local commercial traditions. The SNG ANS 6 and Copenhagen references group this type loosely without resolving the question of mint.
