Trinidad and Tobago operated under the British Crown Colony system throughout this issue's lifespan, with currency technically authorized under the Trinidad and Tobago Currency Note Ordinance of 1905. The Government — not a central bank, which didn't exist here until 1964 — was the direct issuing authority, a Colonial Office arrangement common across British Caribbean territories in this period.
De La Rue produced these notes through the war years, which created real logistical complications: German U-boat activity in the Caribbean was intense enough by 1942 that shipping disruptions affected colonial supply chains across the region.
