Beschrijving voorzijde A classical allegorical female figure personifying Malta stands in right profile on the right side of the note, draped in robes and resting on a shield, set against a blue and light green guilloche underprint. The bank title 'Bank Centrali ta' Malta' appears in large letters across the top, with the denomination '5' at upper right and 'Lm 5' at lower left. Flying doves and ornamental scroll vignettes flank the central field, with the serial number and the word 'GVERNATUR' (Governor) at lower centre.

Beschrijving keerzijde The Torri ta' l-Istandard (Flag Tower) of Mdina occupies the central vignette, rendered in an intaglio-style engraving against a multicolour guilloche background in blue and green tones. At upper left, an excerpt from the Declaration of Rights of the People of 1802 is inscribed in Italian within a decorative panel. The denomination 'ĦAMES LIRI' and the bank title appear in letterpress at the top of the note.
